Occupy Cleveland activist arrested March 15 – please help with bail fund

An activist from Cleveland was arrested yesterday. 14 were arrested and 2 are in the hospital–there was an incident at Occupy Midwest. As of now, this editor does not yet know the details for the particular activist but several people have asked for donations to help with the bail fund to get this person out of jail. Donations page…

Activists left the park voluntarily but police decided to arrest them anyways. Some activists were brutally beaten, some maced. Even people just standing around were affected.

Columbus activists arrested at anti-fracking rally

Activists were arrested before even making it to the ODNR public grounds to protest fracking. One activist comes from Cleveland. http://www.progressohio.org/blog/2012/03/breaking-fracking-protestors-arrested-at-odnr.html

Call for help to stop fracking – Massillon area

OccupyCanton–Yesterday I found out that if not stopped at the next Massillon City Council meeting, fracking will commence within 3 to 5 miles from my family’s home. This means a horizontal well could be drilled and exploited directly beneath the yard my step daughter plays in. It feels like a violation. An industry is able to sneak below my home and pump millions of gallons of toxic and carcinogen saturated water while belching out asthma inducing gas into the air my family will breath because they can make money at the expense of my wife and daughter’s health and well being. Please come to the city council meeting in Massillon on Monday, March 19 at 7:30 pm and help protect the lives and livelihoods of my family, my neighbors and thousands of people who are complete strangers to me. Help me look into my beloved step daughters face and tell her I did something. That we as a community tried. Thank you. An action will be discussed at GA on Saturday.

Info Tent coverage asked for through Sunday, Mar. 18

Five of the tent regulars are visiting Columbus and have asked for coverage for the Info tent. Please help out if you are able. Thanks!

Occupy Movement Music!

Jonathan Blackshire is promoting his song, “99 to 1″ and has asked everyone to help spread word. Wouldn’t it be great if this could be adopted by Occupy Wall Street as its official song? Well, this is what he’s asking! Can you please post, “This song should be the theme song of Occupy Wall Street!” on the movement’s facebook pages?

Please help give tent regulars a night off–Mar. 23

On the night of March 23rd, we’re trying to give everyone a night off from the tent. So, how about it, guys? Can we cover shifts like we did back in December?
Say, 8-2, 1-7, 6-11? Or even all night? Katie is keeping track so please contact her if you’re interested.

Current needs & haves

  • Help for info tent regulars covering shifts
  • Peace, endurance, mutual respect, healthy environment, kindness, community
  • Still need consistent food donations of prepared meals at the tent along with healthy nibbles for energy throughout the cold days

Occupy Cleveland made national news again

A reporter from ABC News gives us a shout out for Occupy HeartFest…

Call to shut down Monsanto with solidarity march in Ohio

OccupyMarines has asked us to perform a solidarity event regarding shutting town Monsanto March 16 and March 17. The issue with Monsanto is that they’ve been very aggressive in their business practices and have promoted unhealthy ways of farming and living. Some feel that the high rate of suicides among Indian farmers is because of the way Monsanto has imposed genetical modified seeds there, and the high cost of the seeds. They are also one of the companies responsible for the notorious chemical “Agent Orange.”

Research for Theater Piece: Please Share Your Thoughts

For a theater work that we’re putting together (current working title: the Occuplay), we’re asking Occupiers and people connected, however tenuously, to the Occupy Movement, to answer four questions:

1. Who are you? (in a more significant sense than, say, name and age).

2. How did you hear about and come to Occupy?

3. What has your experience with and in Occupy been?

4. What is your vision of the future?

We intend to collect as many sets of responses as we can by March 5th. After that, we’ll be weaving these into performance scripts.

People will be collecting interviews at the tent and elsewhere. You can also email text responses or links to audio or video responses to occupycleveland.occuplay@gmail .com
